All,
Please see below a warning from a resident that I received today
Subject: Bogus Phone Call
Hi Steve,
Just lately I have been receiving phone calls from my ‘service provider’. The woman, American accent, talks about my IP address being compromised, and action needed to protect it etc etc. Obviously a scam.
This morning at 07. 28, I had a similar, but more soundingly plausible from an English man purporting to represent Offcom. I played along and then a woman, Indian accent, proceeded to go through her patter. When I asked , how did I know that she represented Offcom, and then requested a letter confirming the problem, the phone went dead. The phone number they used was 02088513072, when dialled was unobtainable.
Obviously a scam, but quite a convincing one. It took me a while to decide that it was in fact a scam. Others may not be so wary. I hope that you can us this incident to warn others.
I have had a report from a resident in the central part of Heather Rd that a dog(s) has been allowed to foul in the area just outside their drive on three occasions in the last week. This is not the only occurrence in the village, and the Parish Council are regularly receiving complaints of such incidents. This appears to be worse during the winter months, particularly when it is dark or the weather inclement.
I know it is easier said than done, but if anyone should see this fouling taking place or they have any further information on the offenders, please phone the Community Wardens at Rugby Borough Council on 08000968000 or visit their website at the following link.
